The Rookery Sale and Demolition, Tuesday 11th March 1952

Following the transfer of the Youth Hostel to Palmer Flatt, Aysgarth, in 1950, the owners of The Rookery took the amazing decision to sell all the fixtures and fittings of this fine building and then demolish the building, which meant blowing it up with  dynamite, because it was so well built.
