World War One

 [This section is under construction.]

"World War One, also known as the Great War or the War to End All Wars, was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. However, many of those who served did not return home until as late as June, 1919. More than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. Over nine million combatants and seven million civilians died as a result of the war.

... During the war, church bells throughout the land were silenced, destined only to toll the ominous news that our shores were being invaded. They were first rung again in November 1918, to signal peace." (Wikipedia)
